When I first had the idea to start creating this site, I was deep in the throws of parenting, working a full-time job, trying to be more mindful of my health and wellness, all while trying to do everything well.
Trying to do it all was taking a toll on my wellness. Many of us do this and we keep at it!
Here are a few strategies to look after your health while still trying to do it all:
Strategic Outsourcing
First things first. We really can’t do it all.
Whether you’re a working parent or not. You likely have a hectic schedule and are juggling multiple responsibilities. When you can, outsource some everyday responsibilities. We could all benefit from a village. You know… that little community of helpers, be it family or friends, or trusted neighbors that lend a hand (really who has this?) If you’re anything like me and that option is NOT available, here are some common things to outsource:
- House cleaning–
- seek deep cleaning or regular house cleaning help.
- Laundry (the bain of my existence)
- Home organization
- This does not have to be a professional organizer. Reach out to a local cleaning agency and tell them your hopes and dreams for a more organized home hah! (no really) they just may be able to help get things regularly sorted when you’re struggling.
- Grocery delivery or pickup
- Make a preset grocery list with your favorite grocer to swap out a few items each week. This saves tons of time! Have a regular item in circulation for kid lunches or personal preferences? Save it in your online grocery list!
- Meal Prep
- If you can, this is a great opportunity to try different food recipes you wouldn’t typically try daily. Also, there are now so many wonderful options from organic to chef-curated, or both! I was pleasantly surprised to try Sunbasket, which offers clean and flavorful options. Many of the companies’ recipes are catered to certain diets and often desirable for many palates. They also offer great start-up offers so you really can’t go wrong giving them a try.
- Dog walking or doggy daycare
- I can’t speak to this enough. A well exercised doggy is a happy doggy. This also goes for households that don’t have enough outdoor space or time to go on regular walks. If you find your pup has ample energy, regular walks or playtime at a doggy day camp will only help both you and your pup and could also mean less messes.
- Doggy doo cleanup
- There is nothing like having to deal with your child’s diaper changes then to look in your yard and see ample dog poo starting to collect. It happens! Especially in the colder months and especially if you’re busy and make a point to get to but didn’t. I mean dogs do poop multiple times a day and if you have more than one? Well. That’s a lot of doo!
- Gardening and yard clean up
- This one can be on a bit on the fence since many people love to garden. It can be relaxing, and it gets us out there in nature. It also can take a considerable time to plan and execute if you have a lot of other things going on. Having someone local that can help will only help you in the long run and could possibly save you time to do other pressing things.
- Lastly, if there is something you need as a temporary or regular solution, seek out local help. Many community Facebook groups have led me to find a local business that can assist where needed. Of course, always be mindful and safe.
